To: All Present and Former Students of Carey & Henderson Vocal Studios
Hello all,
This is to let you know that this season our Showstoppers program will be the MTI show "Showtune" a revue show which celebrates the music of Jerry Herman ( Hello, Dolly, La Cage aux Folles, Mame, Milk & Honey, & Mack & Mable). I am thrilled to be able to offer our students--young and adult--an opportunity to audition for this wonderful show which features big production numbers as well as smaller ensemble numbers and lots and lots of solos for performers of all ages and abilities.
The show will perform March 23 & 24, 2007, 8:00 PM. on the main stage of 14 Court Street, Nashua. Auditions will be held for soloists, however you may be in the show's ensemble without auditioning as long as you are a student (past or present) of Carey & Henderson vocal studios.
The cast will be comprised of:
1. A core ensemble of 25-35, which will perform in the production numbers and do background vocals;
2. A core of soloists of 10-15, will will perform lead vocals;
3. Cameo apperarances by graduates, adult students, and a few surprise guest artists
4. A live jazz combo (featuring percussion, sax, bass and our own P.A. Newman on piano.)
The ensemble will be required to attend all musical and staging rehearsals, which will be on Sundays (time TBA), and Saturdays (as we get closer to production week). All rehearsals will be at the Carey & Henderson studio, 14 Court St.
The core soloists will receive their music and learn it on their own, or in voice lessons. Those numbers will be staged and rehearsed on Monday and Wednesday evenings as needed. Soloists who are also in production numbers will need to come to Sunday rehearsals as well. Cameo artists will receive their music and be "plugged" into the show during tech week.
There will be a $75 production fee for all core ensemble and core soloists. (Cameo artists will not be asked to pay production fees.)
Production week is March 18-24, with tech rehearsals on Wed. and Thurs. 6:00-10:00. All cast members will be required to attend rehearsals during tech week--NO EXCEPTIONS.
Tickets for Showtune will be sold through Ticket Leap, as well as through cast members. Tickets will be in the $10- $15 price range.
If you are interested in participating in this exciting show, which will be a first for Carey & Henderson vocal studios, please respond to this email as soon as possible. We expect auditions to be held during the first part of December, and rehearsals will begin in January immediately after the holidays. For those who can't be here for auditions, contact me about scheduling a private audition or sending a recording.
Contact me if you have any questions. Hoping to see as many of you involved as possible. This is going to be a blast! :-)
Best regards,
Michele Henderson
P.S. If you know anyone who should have received this notice but didn't, tell them about it! I don't have everyone's current email. This is open to literally *all* of our graduates!
